A PHOTO SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS: WEEK ONE

January 23, 2017

I've decided to start a weekly Monday photo post. I want to share a photo every Monday that makes me feel happy.....anything to help beat the Monday blues! These will be my favourite photos from past and present. I love photography and capturing moments in time. It's nice to have my own little place that's dedicated to celebrating them. I really enjoy taking photos, and even though I'm not amazing at photography, I sometimes manage to capture a decent shot. Every photo has a story behind it, even if it's just a memory from the day it's taken.

Today I have chosen a photograph that takes me back to warmer and sunnier climates. It helps me escape this freezing cold January afternoon.

In 2014, Mr B and I embarked upon an epic 6 week American road trip which included attending a childhood friends wedding so to say I was excited would be an understatement.

Starting in New York, flying to LA, road tripping it to Las Vegas through Yosemite National Park to San Francisco. We then drove from San Francisico along the Big Sur stopping at Pismo beach, Carmel, Malibu, Santa Barbara and Santa Monica. Eventually we flew to Florida to attend our friends beautiful wedding and before flying home we drove down to Miami.

It was one of the best adventures of my life and my first time in America. We made the most of every day and made the most of every moment, it was definitely a once in a lifetime trip.

This photo was taken along the big sur which is the coastal road which runs from San Fransisco to LA and it has the most amazing views. We didn't have anywhere to be and had no time schedule so we stopped at every opportunity to soak in the views and to take some photos. Whilst taking this photo, there was a man with an easel armed with water colours painting this view. We watched him paint for a while which I found fascinating. I dilly dallied with the idea of taking up painting when I got back to the UK. This was a hugely romantic idea as in reality I'm terrible at painting but it was lovely to watch him at work for those few minutes.

I've chosen this photo for this week because I have such fond memories of the day it was taken. When I look at it, I'm transported back to the beautiful big sur.....it almost makes me forget the dreary weather outside my window and it makes me smile!

*sigh* What a view!
