We really wanted to book a mini break before the arrival of Baby B but due to the time of year, and our work schedules, a trip abroad wasn't looking likely. We managed to book a couple of nights in the cotswolds and treated ourselves to a nice hotel for a bit of much deserved luxury! We were really keen to take a little bit of time out of 'real life' to enjoy each others company before our new arrival.
We booked two nights at 'No 38 The Park' in Cheltenham which is on the doorstep of some of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds and I was instantly won over by the gorgeous decor and thoughtful extras. We arrived on Saturday afternoon after a leisurely drive through the countryside with a stop off for a obligatory pub lunch. On arrival we were asked to wait in the lovely lounge room before a nice lady came in to 'check us in'. We were shown around the hotel and introduced to the 'honesty bar' which was a fab feature. The vintage drinks cabinet is stocked up with everything you could want and as a guest you help yourself to drinks and just write down what you have had in the folder with your room number so it can be added to your final bill. Unfortunately being pregnant meant I didn't get to try out the honesty bar but just gives me more reason to come back! We were then asked about what time we would like our complimentary breakfast tray delivered in the morning and what time we would like our turn down service in the evening! The turn down service consisted of the removal of decorative blankets and cushions to get it 'jump in to bed ready' and a little tray of hot chocolate and cookies! Heaven!
We relaxed in our room for a few hours before our complimentary taxi arrived to take us to 'No 31 hotel & restaurant' which is under 'The Lucky Onion' umbrella which also owns 'No 38 The Park'. It's another beautiful building with gorgeous decor. We had a lovely dinner and then the servers booked us a complimentary taxi back to our hotel which was a lovely touch. We were excited to get back to our Hot Chocolate and cookies which didn't disappoint! It definitely made us feel extra special and sent me off to sleep nicely. The bed was absolutely huge and I think it was the first time in a long time I didn't annoy Mr B with my mass of pillows and constant fidgeting!
We woke up feel refreshed and after a lovely hot shower in the monster rainforest shower. My bump loved the shower and it definitely soothed my achey rib pains! We made a hot pot of tea with the cute teapot and tea cups provided, and then sat in bed in our fluffy robes, talking and reading the complimentary magazines. Then we suddenly remembered our breakfast tray and opened the door to reveal the cutest little tray of fresh orange juice and mini croissants! It's such a lovely little touch and for a pregnant lady who is always hungry, it was great to have a breakfast before breakfast!
We wandered down to breakfast after getting ready and tucked in to the gorgeous continental breakfast. I feasted on yummy fruit, pastries and toast whilst Mr B had poached eggs on toast. They also provided all the ingredients for a morning Bloody Mary or Mimosa which I thought was fab and wished I could have treated myself! After a leisurely breakfast we headed in to Cheltenham to explore some of the beautiful streets and parks but obviously took things slowly with lots of cake and tea pit stops.
We then jumped in the car and drove to some of the surrounding Cotswolds villages which totally won our hearts because they are just so pretty and quaint! The villages of Lower Slaughter and Bibury were our absolute favourites, we're just trying to work out how we can relocate to one of them asap! After a dinner at a local restauarant, we headed back to the hotel for an evening of relaxing! We made the most of the free movies and tucked in to some snacks which was the perfect end to a long day of exploring.
We had such a wonderful stay at 'No. 38 The Park' and felt properly relaxed. I love that the hotel has such a quiet and chilled out vibe. It almost feels like you're staying in someones house rather than the usual hustle and bustle of a hotel and all the little extras provided are brilliant. I'm so glad we chose to book a babymoon and it was a special time for myself and Mr B to spend some quiet time together before the huge change that awaits us.
If you're thinking about booking a little babymoon or mini break
before your baby arrives then stop thinking about it and do it! You'll have no regrets I promise and it's such a lovely way to celebrate being a couple and the adventure you're about to embark upon.
