I honestly thought that my week 39 pregnancy diary entry would be my last but alas here I am heavily pregnant and merrily typing away on my laptop. Yes I'm still very pregnant and really ready to meet Baby B now. As I quickly approach 41 weeks pregnant, I'm feeling anxious that an induction might be on the cards which I really wanted to avoid. I've heard both positive and negative stories about induced labours but was really hoping my body might kick start the process by itself. There's still time so trying not to feel too disheartened and the most important thing is that Baby B arrives safely.
I'm keeping as busy as possible to keep my mind off the waiting and the beautiful weather has definitely made that a lot easier. I've been making the most of the warmer temperature and spending a lot of time outside. It's amazing the difference a bit of sunshine makes to everyones mood and I've definitely felt less impatient whilst the sun has been shining. We've been taking lovely walks by the river and met with friends for BBQ's and park visits which has been a lovely distraction. We keep being told by friends to make the most of this time before the baby arrives and I think we definitely have been, even though I do have regular moments of impatience.
I've eaten a lot of fresh pineapple, walked for miles and bounced on my ball for hours. I have also had lovely long leisurely baths, read books, met with friends and binged watched the first two series of 'Line of Duty'. My lovely friend popped round with a box of raspberry leaf tea this week so I've started drinking a couple of cups a day and it tastes lovely. I'm probably a little too late with the raspberry leaf tea but as it's meant to strengthen your uterus for labour and it doesn't taste too bad, it's worth giving a go.
I've definitely noticed more swelling in my hands this week and a little worried that I can no longer remove my rings. Mr B has tried a few hacks and ideas from the internet but my sausage fingers aren't playing balls and my rings are well and truly stuck for the time being. I'm achey and my pelvis is super sore but I'm generally feeling quite well which I'm grateful for. I had an unsuccessful sweep at my 40 week midwife appointment due to my cervix being closed so I'm hoping to have a successful sweep at my 41 week appointment so wish me luck! Either way I will get a date for an induction so then the countdown will really kick in and we will be so much closer to meeting Baby B.
It's a surreal and incredibly exciting time. The waiting can be so fustrating, I can't lie but ultimately with every day that passes, we are getting closer to meeting our baby and we can't wait.
